Omah Lay reveals how his Uganda arrest traumatized him
Stanley Omah Didia, commonly known as Omah Lay, has recalled his ordeal in Uganda in 2020 when he was detained and how the event affected him.
You might remember that in December 2020, he and Tems received an invitation to perform in Uganda.
However, following their performance, they were detained for breaking COVID-19 regulations.
The musician described how police detained him in his hotel room during his discussion of the incident during a Pulse One on One interview.
He explained that the security personnel politely asked him to follow them and answer some questions, however, before he realised what was going on, he already found himself in court.
Omah Lay said his trip to Uganda was his first ever international travel and the whole situation put fear in him as he has been scared to fly out of Nigeria ever since.

This is contrary to the statement he made in January of 2021 when he revealed that despite the police assault he faced in Uganda, he would love to visit again the country again.
In an interview with BBNaija’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Rubbin’ Minds show, the singer noted that he felt some kind of connection to his fans that is pulling him back.
“I don’t regret going to Uganda. The night with my Ugandan fans was perfect definitely. I would want to go back to see those people, there was a lot of energy and love,” Omah Lay stated.
