Nigerian Singer, Omah Lay, and Tems have both broken their silence on the whole Ugandan incident that took place over the week.
Omah Lay and Tems arrived Nigeria yesterday after their horrifying time in the hands of the Ugandan Police following their arrest for performing at an ‘unauthorized’ concert.
In a thread shared on Twitter, Omah Lay said the experience was one of the toughest in his life and he wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
He added that he was in a new country where he met some beautiful people and then he was later being treated like a common thief.
Omah Lay went ahead to thank Ugandan fans who came out to see him and added that it was not his intention to put them in harm’s way. He said that the show promoters had confirmed to him that the event was COVID-19 compliant and that he performed at the full glare of the police.
The singer also thanked his mother and family for their prayers and apologized for putting them through distress. He added that he had put the unfortunate incident behind him.
First off I want to thank all the amazing fans that came out to see me in Uganda, the smiles on your happy faces that evening would be one of my happiest memories 💜

At that point, my sole obligation became to make myself available to be taken to the venue and entertain, which I did in the full glance and protection of the Ugandan police.

She expressed dismay that the concert-goers might have been exposed to COVID and that she would not have been part of the show if she knew it would put people at risk.
On a lighter note, Tems also told fans that she had finally eaten and then thanked them for their show of love and support.
