Nigerian rap icon and YBNL captain, Olamide, has reminded fans that no amount of success can separate him from his roots or from his favourite bowl of Garri Ijebu.
Despite the private jets, sold-out arenas, and global recognition, the superstar says that one simple pleasure remains untouched in his life.

He shared this in a warm and humorous chat on the audio-visual podcast Ada’s Room, where he let listeners peek behind the curtain of his everyday lifestyle. Fresh off shutting down London’s 12,500-capacity OVO Arena a night he shared with Seyi Vibez, Asake, and thousands of ecstatic fans, Olamide still lit up the discussion when the topic turned to food.
He revealed that Garri Ijebu, soaked in cold water, often with a generous sprinkle of peanuts, has been his go-to comfort meal for as long as he can remember. Fame, he joked, hasn’t been powerful enough to pull him away from it.
Olamide also addressed the long-standing belief among fans that he’s a shy or overly reserved figure. He corrected that impression quickly, explaining that it’s intentional humility, not shyness.
He prefers to stay laid-back so that rising stars can shine and grow without feeling overshadowed in an industry already full of giants.
When the conversation shifted to his artistry, the Billionaire Club hitmaker spoke with the clarity of someone who’s always thinking long-term.
He said his goal is to make “forever music,” songs that will sound just as good to him in a decade as they do to his listeners today.
With a global career still climbing and a plate of Garri Ijebu never too far from reach, Olamide continues to prove that staying grounded is its own kind of luxury.
