Olamide’s Kitchen Freestyle: How the Rap Legend Helped Lojay Break Through Writer’s Block

Nigerian rap luminary Olamide has once again reminded fans and collaborators why he remains one of the most revered figures in African music this time, through an unscripted and magical studio moment with rising star Lojay.
In a recent episode of her show ‘Flow,‘ filmmaker and host Korty EO revealed an unexpected moment of brilliance that unfolded while Lojay was battling creative frustration in the studio.
According to Korty, the “Monalisa” hitmaker reached out to her, stunned after experiencing what he described as a near-miracle.
Lojay had been stuck on a verse when Olamide casually walked into the kitchen only to return minutes later, mid-snack, with a fully formed verse that left everyone speechless.
“He said he was struggling with a verse,” Korty shared. “And Olamide just entered the kitchen, came back chewing something, and said, ‘What do you think about this?’ And it was perfect.”
This unplanned moment not only lifted Lojay out of his creative block but also showcased Olamide’s effortless artistry and ability to inspire. It’s just another reminder of how deeply ingrained music is in his being.
Adding more context to Olamide’s creative process, Mr. Ojo, a longtime friend and A\&R figure close to the YBNL boss, emphasized how deeply music is woven into his life.
“What people don’t understand is… music is his hobby. He doesn’t have any other hobby. He likes only music,” Mr. Ojo stated.
Whether in the booth or the kitchen, Olamide’s presence continues to be a source of motivation for the next generation of artists.
His dedication to the craft, and his ability to deliver gold off the cuff, cements his reputation as not just a performer, but a rare genius who lives and breathes music.
