Nigerian rap icon and YBNL boss Olamide has weighed in on one of the most debated topics in African music: who stands as the greatest Afrobeats artist after the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

In a recent interview session, the multiple award-winning rapper didn’t hesitate when asked for his pick. Olamide declared that after the pioneer himself, “Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artist.”
The rapper went on to speak about what it feels like working with Wizkid, praising his artistry and consistency over the years.
The two superstars have a long history of collaboration, delivering fan-favourite hits like “Billionaires Club,” “Kai,” “Kana,” and “Confam Ni.”
Their musical chemistry, often described as a blend of raw street energy and global finesse, has made each of their collaborations a standout moment in Afrobeats history.
Olamide’s remarks have since stirred buzz online, with fans celebrating his recognition of Wizkid’s impact and longevity as as a nod from one industry heavyweight to another.

In other news, speaking in a candid interview with Eddie Kaddi on BBC Radio 1Xtra, the Local Rapper hitmaker explained that understanding his audience and remaining authentic to his identity has always been his guiding principle.
“Growing up and seeing the likes of Awilo Longomba doing his thing, Brenda Fassi… These people never tried to infuse English by force or anything. They were just doing their thing.
The key thing is you have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, the rest of the world is going to catch up eventually. So I have to stay true to myself no matter what it is, where it is in this world,” Olamide said.
