Olakira corrects false reports on Davido collaboration, scolds bloggers
Nigerian singer-songwriter Olakira has taken to social media to address and refute rumors that he collaborated with fellow artist Davido on a new song, while criticizing bloggers for spreading false information.
He voiced his frustration over reports claiming that Davido begged him for a verse on his 2020 hit song “Maserati.”
These rumors allegedly originated from an interview where Olakira discussed his experience working with Davido on the track.
In response, Olakira clarified on social media that Davido was, in fact, enthusiastic and eager to collaborate on the song. He also shared that Davido had even video-called him while recording his verse in the studio, further disproving the false claims.
The singer urged bloggers to ensure the accuracy of their information before publishing.
He stated, “Bloggers, please start verifying your information before posting nonsense. Nowhere in that interview did I say Davido was desperate. Get your facts straight.”
Olakira went on to praise Davido for embodying the spirit of “UNBUTU” (a term highlighting the importance of humanity and kindness). He expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and subtly shaded other artists, suggesting they could learn from Davido’s example.
