Christian Nørgaard is a Gunner! Arsenal confirm arrival of Denmark midfielder from Brentford in £12m transfer

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of Christian Norgaard from fellow Premier League side Brentford, making the Danish midfielder their third signing of the 2025 summer transfer window.
Norgaard joins the Gunners on a two-year contract, following in the footsteps of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi, as Mikel Arteta strengthens his squad for a renewed Premier League title challenge and a deep run in the UEFA Champions League.
The 31-year-old leaves Brentford after six influential seasons, during which he helped the Bees secure promotion to the top flight in 2021 and establish themselves as a consistent Premier League side. Norgaard made 196 appearances for Brentford, including 34 starts last season, earning praise for his leadership and consistency in midfield.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official media, the Danish international expressed deep emotion over the move, highlighting how the opportunity to play in the Champions League reignited a long-held dream.
“You can get almost emotional because maybe it was a dream that I’d given a little bit up on coming towards the later stage in my career,” he said.
“I’ve just turned 31 and had signed a new deal with Brentford. Of course, there’s always a little chance that a miracle could happen with Brentford, but it was probably unrealistic to play Champions League with them.
“Now, I get to hear the anthem and be a part of a Champions League campaign. It’s a childhood dream and something I didn’t think would be possible. So it’s something I’m really, really happy about.”

Arsenal commenced pre-season training on July 15, and Norgaard is expected to link up with the first team immediately, giving him ample time to integrate into the squad before their pre-season tour of Asia.
With Arteta aiming to add experience and depth to a side that finished just short of Premier League glory last season, Norgaard’s arrival brings leadership, versatility, and top-flight experience to Arsenal’s midfield as they gear up for a crucial 2025/26 campaign.
