Odumodublvck Sparks Debate by Declaring Mikel Obi Nigeria’s Greatest Footballer

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has ignited controversy among football fans after naming former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi as the greatest Nigerian footballer of all time.
Taking to Twitter on March 20, 2025, the Cast hitmaker backed up his claim by recalling some of Mikel’s career-defining moments.
He pointed to Chelsea’s iconic 2012 UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, where Mikel seamlessly shifted to centre-back after John Terry’s red card, helping his team secure a historic victory at Camp Nou.
According to Odumodublvck, that night “stamped his place as the greatest ever to kick a ball from Nigeria.” He also praised Mikel’s dominant display in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich, describing it as a “masterclass” that solidified his legacy on football’s biggest stage.
The rapper argued that true greatness in football isn’t based on name recognition but on actual in-game performances. “Football no be by name, na by wetin you actually play,” he tweeted, insisting that Mikel’s on-field contributions outweigh mere hype.
Odumodublvck further teased an upcoming announcement related to his sophomore album, Industry Machine, hinting that Mikel Obi might reveal the release date on his Obi One podcast.
His declaration has since triggered intense debate on social media, with fans weighing in on whether Mikel deserves to be ranked above Nigerian football legends like Jay-Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, and Rashidi Yekini.
