OdumoduBlvck recounts how Don Jazzy gifted him $10,000
Chart-topping rapper OdumoduBlvck has opened up about how he secured a collaboration with Nigeria’s iconic label boss, producer, and musician Don Jazzy, whom he regards as the most authentic figure in the industry.
In an interview with Beats FM, OdumoduBlvck discussed his latest project, a joint album by the Anti-World Gangsters crew titled Nothing Changed. The project features Don Jazzy on the standout track Asampete.
Recalling how Don Jazzy came to be part of the song, OdumoduBlvck revealed that after recording the track, he felt it needed Don Jazzy’s unique touch. The Mavin Records founder graciously agreed to collaborate.
“When I went to his house to get his vocals, he gave me $10,000 cash,” OdumoduBlvck shared. “Even my friend asked why he gave me such a huge amount of money.” Don Jazzy also refused to take royalties for his contribution, further cementing his reputation for generosity.
Odumodu praised Don Jazzy as “a real don” and the most original personality in Nigerian music. “There’s nobody more original than Don Jazzy. The way younger artists look up to Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Olamide today is how they used to look up to Don Jazzy,” he stated.
