Nigerian rap star Odumodublvck has reignited memories of one of Ghana’s most celebrated hip-hop anthems with his latest release, Pay Me, a track built on the legendary foundation of VIP’s 2003 classic, Ahomka Womu.

Seamlessly merging old-school energy with modern Afro-fusion, Odumodublvck delivers a fiery anthem that both resonates with a new audience and pays homage to West Africa’s musical heritage.

By sampling Ahomka Womu, he reintroduces a song that defined an era while stamping it with his signature “Okporoko music” style, a gritty blend of drill and R&B.

Originally performed by Ghanaian hip-hop pioneers VIP (Vision In Progress), made up of Prodigal, Promzy, Lazzy, and guided by producer Appietus, Ahomka Womu was a defining sound of the early 2000s.

Its infectious beat and chorus cemented its status as a continental anthem, dominating clubs and airwaves and earning a permanent spot in Africa’s musical legacy.

Two decades later, Odumodublvck breathes new life into the track. Backed by UK grime heavyweight Stormzy and Nigerian street-hop star Zlatan, Pay Me rides on the recognizable bounce of the VIP instrumental while layering Odumodublvck’s bold lyrics about ambition, survival, and financial independence.

His unflinching delivery over the nostalgic beat bridges past and present, creating a sonic thread between generations.

More than just a sample, Pay Me is a cultural conversation, a salute to the pioneers of African hip-hop while projecting the sound to a global stage. The result is a thrilling collision of eras that shows how far the movement has come, and how deeply its roots still matter.
