Jaywon is my guy but I will still diss him – OdumoduBlvck

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck recently spoke candidly about his relationship with veteran artist Jaywon during an interview on ‘Trending‘ with Hip TV. While describing Jaywon as a friend, the rapper made it clear that their bond wouldn’t deter him from throwing jabs at the singer.
“Forget about the banter, Jaywon is my guy. I really love Jaywon,” OdumoduBlvck said. “Because you be my guy no mean say I no go diss you,” he added in pidgin, emphasizing his stance.
In typical Odumodublvck fashion, he poked fun at Jaywon for relying on his hit single ‘Odun Yi,’ released nearly 13 years ago, which continues to gain annual attention for its uplifting New Year message. “Jaywon has one hit he performs once a year,” the rapper remarked, reigniting their ongoing back-and-forth.
Earlier this month, Jaywon released a new live rendition of ‘Odun Yi,’ sparking mixed reactions online. While some hailed the evergreen appeal of the song, others criticized him for being fixated on one track.
Social media users even nicknamed him the “Nigerian Mariah Carey,” referencing Carey’s perennial holiday classic ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’
Jaywon, however, turned the comparison into a compliment. “It’s an honor to be likened to Mariah Carey, whose timeless hit enjoys annual relevance,” he said, shutting down critics with a graceful response.
The love-hate dynamic between OdumoduBlvck and Jaywon dates back to when Jaywon reportedly called the rapper “not all that.” In retaliation, OdumoduBlvck dropped a diss track titled ‘Not All That,‘ publicly calling out the veteran artist. Since then, their exchanges have fueled speculation about the state of their relationship.
Jaywon expressed his dissatisfaction with OdumoduBlvck’s most recent statements on his X (previously Twitter) account. “I don’t know why he assumes we have beef,” he tweeted, telling the rapper to concentrate on his profession. “Get over it. *Odun Yi* will always remain relevant,” he said, emphasizing his legacy.

I can’t stand the fact that Odumodu thinks I’m beefing with him. Yo, get over it and focus on your career, bro. Or is it that you just can’t handle the fact that I’ll always be relevant because of that one single you keep coming for?

While the banter between the two continues to draw public attention, fans hope the artists can move past their differences and possibly collaborate in the future. For now, their back-and-forth remains a hot topic in Nigeria’s music industry.
