Premier League side Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of French forward Arnaud Kalimuendo from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes on a five-year contract.

Although Forest did not disclose the financial details, reports in the British press indicate the deal is worth around £26 million ($35.1m).

Kalimuendo, 23, is a product of Paris Saint-Germain’s academy and spent two productive loan stints with Lens before moving permanently to Rennes in 2022. Over two seasons at the French club, he registered 40 goals in 112 appearances across all competitions. His spell at Lens yielded 21 goals in 65 games.

The striker enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign, scoring 18 times and providing four assists in 34 appearances. He was also part of the French squad that clinched silver at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Speaking after the move, Kalimuendo expressed his delight: “This is a proud moment for me, joining a team who had a strong season last year and a club with great history. I’m ready for the challenge, and I arrive here with good experience. I had a good season last year with goals and assists but I want more and want to reach a new level here.”

Forest have been one of the busiest clubs in this summer’s window, spending close to £147m on seven new players. Kalimuendo is the latest addition following the arrivals of James McAtee from Manchester City for £30m and Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town in a £37.5m switch.

The Midlands outfit, who secured a seventh-place finish last term, started the new campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Brentford at the City Ground on Sunday. The club is also preparing for its first taste of European football since 1996 after qualifying for the Europa League.
