The Nigerian Music industry despite the obstacles that the coronavirus pandemic threw it way still found a way to survive thanks to its amazing artists.
While 2020 has seen the release of a lot of Nigerian songs, some in particualar got the internet talking and was everywhere no matter where you clicked.
Mp3bullet.ng compiles a list of Nigerian songs that broke the internet and caused a lot of buzz both in and outside of the internet.

Duduke – Simi
Duduke ranks high on this list for many reasons. When the song dropped, it received good reviews but the length was the only issue fans had with it (Though Simi explained why). However, it seems being short gave it a high replay value.
When Simi dropped the music video, things went bonkers from there. Apparently, Simi was expecting her first child and used the video as an opportunity to reveal this.
It also spurred an Internet challenge that even pregnant moms participated in. It currently has more than 26 million views on Youtube.
Fem – Davido
In the month of June, Davido dropped a cryptic message on his social media platforms announcing that he would be taking a break from the Internet for a while.
Fast-forward to September, he dropped “Fem”, the first official single from his “A Better Time” album. Given that he had been away for three months, people were excited to see what he came back.
“Fem” reached one million views on Youtube in less than 24 hours of its release. The song also became a favorite on #EndSars protest grounds. This helped to boost its popularity on the streets. It currently has more than 14 million views on Youtube two months after its release.
Nobody – DJ Neptune, Joeboy, Mr Eazi
In the month of March, DJ Neptune released his first single of the year titled “Nobody” featuring Joeboy and Mr Eazi.
The song quickly gained popularity over time even finding its way outside of Nigeria’s shore. International models, Footballers, and celebrities like Janet Jackson even joined the throngs of people who grooved to the song.
DJ Neptune also released an EP of remixes for the song which includes an icon remix featuring Laycon, a Hausa, Latin, Igbo, Canada remixes.
The song currently has more than 23 million views on youtube.

Maserati – Olakira
Olakira came under most people’s radar thanks to “Masarati”. The song which is a bop also started came a dance which was made popular by Instagram comedia, Sydney Talker.
Olakira got Davido to jump on the song for a remix which also did well. The original song currently has 13 Million views in just five months of its release and the remix has 6.5 Million views in just two months.
Geng – Mayorkun
“Geng” was birthed after a video of Mayorkun rapping part of its lyrics went viral. He then dropped the full song which birthed covers from both fans and celebrities as well.
The song clouded every other song at the time of its release earlier in the year. The song also birthed a remix EP which saw former rap rivals, M.I and Vector on the Naija version. While Ms Banks and Russ were on the UK remix.

Worthy Mention
Betty Butter – Mayorkun X Davido
Betty Butter was one of the collaborations between Mayorkun and Davido that fans fell in love. This two have a chemistry in songs that seem to make a song sweeter than expected.
What Type of Dance- DJ Kaywise, Mayorkun, Zlatan, Naira Marley
One of 2020’s best street bangers, “What Type of dance” was released by DJ Kaywise to celebrate his birthday.
Wonderful- Burna Boy
Way before he released his Grammy Nominated album, “Twice as Tall”, Burna Boy dropped “Wonderful” as its first single. The song also caught people’s interest due to Burna name dropping billionaire Businessman, Adebayo Ogunlesi.
KPK- Rexxie X Mohbad
Just like “WTOD”, KPK(Ko Por Ke) a collaboration between Rexxie and Mohbad is also taking over the streets and the internet with dance videos now going viral.
Zoom – Cheque
“Zoom” was off Cheque’s EP, “Razor”. The Afro Trap song was a successful hti song even topping charts.
If No Be You- Jamopyper, Mayorkun
Zanku Record artist, Jamopyper enlisted Mayorkun for “If No Be You” which went to become more successful as fans started a crazy challenge with the song.
