These are the best 2021 Afropop International Collaborations by Nigerian artists
It feels like another wonderful year for the business, with a number of blockbusters from its artists and even some Nigerian-International Collaborations.
However, the best Nigerian-international collaborations in 2021 have been highlighted.
The Nigerian music industry is becoming stronger after the rise of Afrobeat on the worldwide music scene in 2020, and two of its main runners, Wizkid and Burna Boy, winning their first Grammys in 2021.
This year has seen a slew of successful songs grace our speakers, but we’re particularly interested in the Nigerian-international collaborations that have been published thus far.

Essence (Remix) – Wizkid, Tems, Justin Bieber
Over the years, Wizkid has racked up a number of international collaborations but in 2021, he clinched another major one, this time on his song.
The original “Essence” was part of Wizkid’s 2020 album “Made In Lagos” but began to get attention in 2021. It even earned Wizkid a place on the billboard 100 and other charts.
While the song was bubbling in the international music scene, Wizkid unveiled a remix with Justin Bieber which has been buzzing since its release.
The Bieber remix is one of four new songs confirmed to appear on a deluxe edition of the “Made In Lagos” album
Fireboy DML – Peru feat. ED Sheeran
Fireboy DML has shared a new version of his song “Peru,” now featuring Ed Sheeran. The Nigerian singer-songwriter released the original version of the hit single back in July.
“It has been a dream knowing Ed Sheeran is a fan of my sound and having him jump on a song that was inspired by me travelling the world,” Fireboy DML remarked in a press release.
“Not only is this an exciting moment for me, but also for Afrobeats.
Sere (Remix) – DJ Spinall ft Fireboy DML, 6lack
DJ Spinall released his “Grace” album in 2020 which included the summer anthem ‘Sere” sung by Fireboy DML.
In 2021, he released a remix featuring American Rapper, 6Lack which even added more spice to the already sweet song.
Sekkle & Bop – Mr Eazi, Popcaan, Dre Skull
Mr Eazi teams up with American Producer, Dre Skull and Jamaican star, Popcaan on the groovy mid-tempo tune, “Sekkle & Bop”
Dre Skull cooks up the kind of bashment riddim that has always resonated on dancefloors around the world on “Sekkle & Bop.”
It serves as the foundation for Mr Eazi and Popcaan to take control, with a Soundsystem-ready low end and an ear worming flute melody anchoring the track.
Somebody’s Son – Tiwa Savage feat. Brandy
Tiwa Savage came ready for everyone’s attention with her first release of the year, “Water and Garri” EP.
The EP features two major international collaborations but the one taking people’s attention is the one with American Legendary singer, Brandy.
Tiwa opens the song powerful yet sensitive before Brandy enters shining light and reaffirming Tiwa’s strength.

Sinner – Adekunle Gold, Lucky Daye
For a while now, it is obvious to everyone that Adekunle Gold has evolved with his sound.
In his second offering of 2021, he teams up with American Singer, Lucky Daye to create the sizzling hot tune.
The soothing afro-pop song was produced by his long time accomplice, Blaise. The music video features his wife, Simi as a video vixen.
