    2Baba

    Nigerian musician, 2face Idibia announced in 2016 that he had changed his stage name. He revealed his new alias, 2baba, on social media.

    He went on to say that the name change was not surprising because many people had been calling him “2Baba” for a long time, and that it was only natural for him to change it now that he is a parent “Baba” and a chief (Tafidan Kudandan in Kaduna).

    Many people still refer him as his old name.

    Kizz Daniel

    Kiss Daniel, through his manager, stated in May 2018 that he has changed his name to Kizz Daniel.

    Formerly known as Kiss Daniel, the singer was embroiled in a court battle with his former company, G Worldwide, over a high-profile contract disagreement.

    He then left G Worldwide to launch Flyboy Inc., his own record label.

    During the legal battle, his ex-label claimed ownership and copyrighted the name ‘Kiss Daniel,’ prompting the artist to adopt the moniker Kizz Daniel, which swiftly spread on social media.

    Cruel Santino

    Nigerian Alte star, Cruel Santino has changed his stage name twice. he was first known as Ozzy B, then switched to the name Santi under which he achieved a considerable level of fame. In 2020, he announced a new change of name to Cruel Santino.

    He explained that competing copyright issues with ‘one man in Spain’ led to the eventual decision to let his former moniker, ‘Santi’ go.

    He wrote;

    “u guys i had to change my name
    to cruel santino
    cause one man in spain didnt want to free the name for me. (copyright issues sha)
    so all my music is gonna be under cruel santino from now”

    Ladipoe

    When Nigerian Rapper, Ladipoe first surfaced on the internet, he used to be known as Poe. After he signed into Mavin Records, his name was changed to Ladipoe which he currently uses to date.

    In 2020, Mavin Record Boss, Don Jazzy explained the reason behind this change. According to him, the name change had to happen because of copyrights issues.

    Sinzu

    Sinzu formerly known as Sauce Kid was a popular rapper in the early 2000s.

    On Friday, July 20, 2012, via social network Twitter, the rapper said he now wants to be addressed as Sinzu SMG.

    ‘Officially dropped the alias ‘Sauce Kid’ he tweeted. He has since changed his Twitter handle from @oluwasaucekibaba to @SinzuSMG.

    Buju

    Buju is the latest artist to join the gang of artists changing their names. First known as Drizzle during his early days, he switched to Buju, which was inspired by Jamaican Dancehall singer, Buju Banton.

    However, recently the singer announced a change of name to BNXN which is pronounced ‘Benson‘, his surname.

    In 2020, Cynthia morgan resurfaced on the music scene after a long break. Her comeback wasn’t without drama as she went on an interview blaming her former boss, Jude Okoye for her ordeals in the music Industry.

    She also announced that she wants to be known as Madrina. Unlike the rest of the artists on this list, the new name is yet to be recognized by fans and the music industry.
