Nigerian artistes have been working with fashion brands or personae on a large scale lately, often as models for businesses, in addition to simply going into studios and penning songs.
To honor Nigerian artistes who have graced the runways for high-end fashion labels, we have put together a list of them.
Wizkid
In 2018, Wizkid starred in the Dolce & Gabbana Milan Fashion Week runway show. In addition to walking alone, he walked alongside Naomi Campbell. A lot of people praised him as a record-breaker, and it was an incredibly thrilling moment.
Davido
In 2022, Davido wore a customized tracksuit to walk the runway for Puma in New York for New York Fashion Week. His outfit generated endless conversations online.
Rema
The global rave and king of the ravers made his debut on the runway in 2019. He just bagged the Next Rated at the Headies and complemented with
Yemi Alade
Asides music and groovy steps, Yemi Alade is known for her remarkable exportation of the African culture and tradition, particularly in the fashion world. The Afro-House power horse walked the runway at the first ever Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards fashion show in 2022. She walked alongside fashion mogul and entertainer Denrele Edun.
Tiwa Savage
Tiwa isn’t just the Afrobeats Queen in words, her list of solid accomplishments in the entertainment sphere earned her the title. In 2019, the mother of one made a runway walk at Naomi Campbell’s annual Fashion For Relief event at the British Museum. The event was held during the London Fashion Week.
Seun Kuti
The Kutis go beyond music and Pan-Africanism, they are a brand of fashion uniqueness and Seun proves that in his runway walk of contemporary fashion label Casablanca for Paris Fashion Week for their fall/winter collection. His walk held a lot of charisma and courage!
D’banj
Being a top dog in the music game, Bangalee has paid his dues in all ramifications. In the 2018 African Fashion International Johannesburg Fashion Week runway show, D’banj made his walk and this was a moment to behold for the Afrobeats culture! He teamed up with South African designer David Tlale, as he showcased a suit while strutting comfortably down the runway.
