Mp3bullet.ng presents Nigerian-American Collaborations You Probably Didn’t Know exist.
These are the Collaborations between Nigerian and American artists You probably had no idea they existed.
It’s no secret that today’s Afrobeats and African artists are in higher demand than ever. Of course, with such demand comes to a blending of cultures and a partnership across countries.
While some of these collaborations go on to become global successes (for example, Drake ft. Wizkid), others don’t make as much noise but are still great songs in their own right.
So Mp3bullet.ng compiled a list of Collaborations between Nigerian and American ARtists you probably haven’t heard before.

Freak Me- Ciara ft Tekno
Following the worldwide success of her smash single Level Up in 2018, Ciara, whose love for Africa and African inspirations has never been hidden, collaborated on a song called “Freak Me” with Nigerian hitmaker Tekno.
Of course, Nigerians were already pleased when they saw the featured artiste because we love seeing one of our own in the spotlight, but when the song was released, listeners couldn’t help but sense a familiarity in the chorus.
The chorus of Freak Me is the same chorus that Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage wrote and sang in her 2015 single “Before Nko.”
As expected, people were quick to call Ciara out on the similarity in the choruses but Tiwa Savage herself was quick to chime in and clear any doubts about a contention or malice.
Ciara sampled the song and is paying the due compensation and royalties to Tiwa that is lawful. Tiwa speaking about the collaboration said:
I love the fact that she picked that song. It wasn’t one of the most popular songs from the ‘RED’ album. But it was definitely one of my favourites. I love her version; and Tekno. I’m a huge fan of his. He definitely killed it. I think it’s gonna do really well.
Over You- Kat Deluna and Yemi Alade
Kat Deluna, a prominent American singer, songwriter, and dancer best known for her smash singles “Whine Up” and “Run The Show,” released her third studio album, Loading, in 2016.
Yemi Alade had previously released a video of the two girls eating lunch, which served as our first hint to the upcoming collaboration.
When Kat Deluna’s album was finally released in 2016, the collaboration was featured on Track 6 of the Japan Deluxe Version of the album.
But the surprise wasn’t over it seems because when Yemi Alade dropped her own album Black Magic the next year, 2017, on the Deluxe Version of her album, Track 17 was a song titled “Right Now” featuring none other than Kat Deluna herself.
Finders Keepers remix- Mabel, Burna Boy, and Kojo Funds.
Mabel has been having a great run in her profession. Don’t Call Me Up, God Is A Dancer, Mad Love, and her 2017 smash Finders Keepers are just a few of her hit songs.
Many people are unaware that, at the height of “Finders Keepers” popularity, Mabel uploaded an official remix to her YouTube channel, which included a new verse and contributions from none other than the African Giant himself, Burna Boy.
His verse, as well as the tone of his voice, take the music to a new level, making an already fantastic song even better.
It’s a collaboration that you should certainly check out if you haven’t already.
My Type remix- Saweetie, French Montana, Wale, and Tiwa Savage.
Saweetie’s “My Type“, was one of the biggest songs in 2019 and deservedly so. That chorus gets stuck in your head.
But what many might not know is that following the song’s success, Saweetie invited three artists to jump on an official remix which she posted to her official Youtube page.
These artists were French Montana, Nigerian boy Wale, and Nigeria’s own Tiwa Savage.
Their contributions, especially in my opinion Wale’s verse, to the song really makes it slap that much harder.
It’s an already good song but the addition of Wale and Tiwa especially really turned it up a notch.
It’s definitely one worth checking out if you haven’t heard it already.

Checklist- Normani and Wizkid
Normani Kordei, a former member of the popular girl group Fifth Harmony, released a two-song EP in late 2018.
Both tracks were produced by British DJ Calvin Harris, but the project’s first single, Checklist, includes none other than Nigeria’s own Wizkid.
It’s a fantastic tune. Many individuals have lent covers and remixes to it because it is so hot.
