American rapper, singer, and songwriter Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, known professionally as Nicki Minaj, is gearing up for another electrifying performance as both the host and performer at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, set to take place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Tuesday, September 12. The event will celebrate music icons and emerging talents.
Last year, Nicki Minaj was honoured with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to music and film.
Not only did she receive this coveted accolade, but she also delivered a captivating medley of her chart-topping hits, including “Super Bass,” “Anaconda,” and “Super Freaky Girl.” This year, the excitement is building around Minaj’s highly anticipated world premiere performance of her latest hit, “Last Time I Saw You.”
In addition to her role as a performer, the Queen rapper will once again take on the responsibilities of hosting the show. This marks her second time as the emcee, a rare occurrence that hasn’t been seen since Russell Brand’s back-to-back hosting in 2008-09.

On Sunday (Sept. 10), Nicki Minaj hopped on X (formerly of Twitter) and jokingly asked: “Why would the @vmas let me host this show??? [tears of joy emoji] knowing I’m… different… [upside down face emoji] [face winking eye emoji] #Vmas see ya on the 12th NEW YAWWWK.”
