Nicki Minaj shares the Afrobeats song she’s using to learn Pidgin English
American rapper Nicki Minaj continues to showcase her love for Nigerian Pidgin English, revealing that she’s using Afrobeats music to help her learn the language. In a recent video posted on her social media, Nicki shared her fondness for Ayra Starr’s hit song “Rush,” which she’s been using to pick up new Pidgin words.
Nicki’s connection with Nigerian culture caught the attention of fans when she spoke Pidgin English in a post on X (formerly Twitter). In the post, she humorously referred to herself as a “Sabi Girl,” a phrase made popular by Ayra Starr in her song.

The rapper’s tweet read: “LMFAOOOO. Nigeria will not end me o! Sabi girl no Dey too like talk… I will show them pepper,” referencing the playful and expressive nature of Pidgin English.
This isn’t Nicki Minaj’s first interaction with Nigerian artists. She previously collaborated with Afrobeats superstar Davido on the track “Holy Ground” from his third album, A Better Time. More recently, she teased an unreleased track featuring Burna Boy, further solidifying her connection to the Nigerian music scene.
