American rapper Nicki Minaj has openly admitted that she has undergone cosmetic surgery in response to body-shaming statements made by fellow rapper Lil Wayne.
The rapper gave an explanation of her decision to get a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) on a Joe Budden podcast session.
The 40-year-old musician said how Lil Wayne made fun of her when she was younger because she didn’t have a fuller bottom like the women he usually hung out with in the studio.
Because of the frequent bullying, she felt unworthy and thought about having surgery to make herself feel complete.

Minaj expressed regret over giving in to outside demands and acknowledged feeling uncomfortable whenever Lil Wayne invited women with curvier forms.
The fact that the criticism came from a former idol and role model in the business made the blow even more painful for her.
The artist went into detail about how she had accepted the idea that women needed to have full breasts and curvy bodies in order to fit into the hip-hop culture.
Although Lil Wayne intended his remarks to be playful banter, Minaj took them seriously and they ultimately affected her choice to have surgery.
