Hallelujah Challenge: My wife suffered 5 miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy – Nathaniel Bassey

Renowned gospel singer and worship leader Nathaniel Bassey has shared a deeply emotional story about the personal trials he and his wife, Sarah, endured, revealing that she suffered five miscarriages, including an ectopic pregnancy.
The revelation came in the early hours of Friday during the ongoing October 2025 edition of the “Hallelujah Challenge,” a 25-day worship session running from October 7 to 31, with daily praise sessions starting at 11:59 p.m.
In a heartfelt moment, Nathaniel Bassey spoke about the quiet battles he faced even while leading thousands in worship online. Despite his visible joy and faith during those sessions, he said he would often leave the livestream and head straight to the hospital to be by his wife’s side.
“As men of God and ministers, we have heard a lot of stories. People come to me and say, ‘Pastor Nathaniel, you don’t understand’,” he began. “My wife will have to forgive me. Do you know there were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and nobody knew? I would still come online to praise and dance.”
He went on to recall one particularly difficult period when his wife suffered an ectopic pregnancy. “A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. I would leave, lead praise and worship online, then return to the hospital, and the nurses attending to her would tell me, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four pregnancies, but five,” he shared.
Nathaniel Bassey’s testimony moved many worshippers who tuned in, offering a rare glimpse into the private pain behind his unwavering public faith.
The gospel minister and his wife, Sarah, have been married since 2013, and their story now stands as a powerful reminder of perseverance, faith, and worship in the midst of trials.
