South African rapper Nasty C is vying for a Grammy Award, having submitted his critically acclaimed album ‘I Love It Here‘ for consideration at the 66th Grammy Awards.
Nasty C’s record label, Def Jam, announced the submission via social media on October 19, 2023, with a “for your consideration” banner. The South African rapper has put forth his latest album, ‘I Love It Here,’ for potential nominations.
This album, released on Friday, September 15, 2023, marks his fourth studio album and comprises 19 tracks featuring a roster of talented artists, including Ami Faku, Manana, Bella Shmurda, Benny The Butcher, Tellaman, and Yung Mazzmick.
Nasty C has submitted ‘I Love It Here‘ for possible nominations in multiple categories, including Best Rap Album, Best Global Performance, and Best Music Video.
The nominees for this year’s Grammy Awards will be unveiled on November 10, 2023, and the award ceremony is scheduled for February 4, 2024.
It’s worth noting that the Academy Awards have introduced a new category to recognize African music, titled Best African Music Performance.
Numerous Afrobeats artists, including Nasty C, are competing in this category. However, Nasty C isn’t the only Afrobeats star seeking a Grammy nomination; artists like Rema, Ayra Starr, Davido, Stonebwoy, and many others have also submitted their projects for consideration.
