Nasboi Reveals Why He Mimicked Davido When He Started His Career

Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, popularly known as Nasboi, a Nigerian skit-maker, and singer, has revealed the reason behind starting his career by mimicking Davido.

In an interview segment on MTV Base Naija 10, Nasboi explained that he began mimicking the DMW boss as a means to gain attention. He wanted to catch Davido’s attention and showcase his own musical talent to him.

Launching onto the Nigerian entertainment scene as “Low Budget OBO,” Nasboi’s goal was to stand out and get noticed by Davido, whom he admires. By imitating Davido, he hoped to create a connection with the artist and ultimately gain recognition for his own musical abilities.

He said, “I started off mimicking Davido. So, the plan was to get David’s attention for my music. I disturbed this guy till he invited me one day and I started playing my music.”

On why he became a skit maker, Nasboi said, “It [my mimics of Davido] started looking like cruise to everybody. So, I said, okay, let’s jump on it. That’s how I jumped on it and it started looking like it demanded for me to start making skits. So, I had no option than to make skits.”
