Nasboi says he received death threat over his comment about Wizkid
Nigerian artist and skit maker Nasboi has addressed the backlash he received following comments he made about Wizkid during a recent appearance on Cool FM, hosted by Big Brother Naija star Tacha.
During his appearance, Nasboi raised the question of why celebrities are often expected to refrain from voicing their opinions freely, contrasting this with the more relaxed social media banter that occurs among non-celebrities.
His remarks shed light on the double standard that celebrities sometimes face, where their ability to express opinions is restricted or scrutinized more closely compared to non-celebrities.
He said, “It’s like once you’re a celebrity, you do not have an opinion. But you, who is a normal guy on the street, you have an opinion. You can decide to say you love Wizkid over Davido and that’s okay. And me, who’s a normal guy who is a celebrity, shouldn’t have the same privilege?”

Nasboi continued to share his experiences, revealing the kinds of messages he received following a previous interview where he expressed his opinion that Wizkid should not have referred to Don Jazzy as an influencer.
“Because of what I said on my recent podcast interview. It’s a simple question: Do you think Wizkid offended Don Jazzy with his statement? They asked me a direct question and I think yes. For calling him an influencer, I feel like the context wasn’t okay. I would feel bad. And because of what I said about Wizkid, somebody is in my DM saying I will die like my brother,” he revealed.
Nasboi’s recent appearance on the Bad and Boujee podcast saw him revisit the online altercation between Wizkid and Don Jazzy, offering his perspective on the matter. During the podcast, he remarked, “Wizkid is an influencer because he influences people. I used to be a Wizkid fan, I loved Wizkid, and I think he was wrong for talking to Don Jazzy that way.”
His comments underscored his belief in Wizkid’s influential status within the industry while also expressing his disapproval of Wizkid’s behavior towards Don Jazzy during their exchange. Nasboi’s willingness to engage in discussions about such controversies showcases his commitment to addressing relevant topics within the music community and fostering constructive dialogue.
