Naira Marley sparks debate with Islamic views on social media

Popular Nigerian singer and Marlian Music boss, Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has once again captured public attention—this time for his remarks on Islam.
Following his recent court clearance in the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death, Naira Marley has been vocal about his religious beliefs, particularly during the ongoing Ramadan season.
His latest social media post has ignited discussions, as he emphasized the distinction between Islam as a faith and the fallibility of its followers.
“Islam is perfect, Muslims are not. If I make a mistake, blame me, but not my religion,” the Pxy Drip crooner wrote.
His statement has since drawn mixed reactions across various social media platforms.
While some have praised his message as a reflection of religious understanding, others have questioned his growing emphasis on faith, considering his controversial past.
As conversations continue, it remains to be seen whether Naira Marley’s public expressions of faith will reshape public perception or further deepen existing debates around his persona.

Recall, Naira Marley encourages Muslims as they observe the holy month of Ramadan.
The Marlian Music boss, who is a devout Muslim, shared an Islamic teaching about unintentional eating or drinking while fasting.
Quoting a well-known Hadith, he wrote: “If somebody eats or drinks forgetfully, then he should complete his fast, for what he has eaten or drunk was given to him by Allah.”
