‘I had no access to our money’: Peter Okoye testifies in EFCC case against brother Jude

In a dramatic twist to a high-stakes courtroom saga, music icon Peter Okoye (Mr. P) took the witness stand on April 14, 2025, to testify against his elder brother, Jude Okoye, in a ₦1.38 billion fraud trial that has captivated the public.
Jude, the former manager of the iconic but now-disbanded duo P-Square, was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at a court in Ikoyi. The charges include alleged diversion of ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59 through questionable financial dealings.
In a move that stunned fans and observers alike, Peter—one half of the legendary P-Square—stepped forward as one of the prosecution’s key witnesses. He accused Jude of long-standing financial mismanagement and deceptive practices that spanned years of their music career.
According to the EFCC’s findings and Peter’s testimony, Jude allegedly operated a shadow company called Northside Music Limited, distinct from P-Square’s known management outfit, Northside Entertainment. Jude, it was revealed, was the sole signatory to the group’s bank accounts—granting him unchecked access to their funds.
Peter disclosed that suspicions were raised when funding for his personal real estate project in Ikoyi was abruptly cut off. His independent investigation unveiled the existence of Northside Music Limited, a company reportedly co-owned by Jude (20%) and his wife (80%). Crucially, this structure allowed Jude to reroute group earnings without his brothers’ knowledge.
Efforts to clarify the situation reportedly led to a bitter fallout. Peter claimed that instead of transparency, he was dismissed from the group. Left with no choice, he engaged legal counsel, setting the stage for the current court battle.
Further damning was Peter’s assertion that Jude deliberately blocked his access to P-Square’s account records by instructing banks to withhold statements unless compelled by a court order. When the records were finally obtained, Peter alleged that key figures had been manipulated.
Following the hearing, Jude Okoye was granted bail set at ₦50 million. The trial remains ongoing, with more witnesses and revelations expected in the coming weeks. As the family feud unfolds under the national spotlight, many fans are left reeling from the behind-the-scenes turmoil of one of Nigeria’s most celebrated music acts.
