EFCC vs Paul Okoye: Mr P shares emotional message amid ongoing family rift

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, famously known as Mr. P and one-half of the defunct P-Square duo, has shared an emotionally raw message about his battles with family conflict and mental health.
In a candid Instagram Story posted on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Mr. P opened up about the psychological toll of unresolved family struggles that have plagued him for over two decades.
“Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you’re drowning in silence,” he wrote. “I did – for over 20 years. And it nearly cost me everything. But I’ve learned: real love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family shouldn’t steal from you. If someone drains, shames, discriminates against, or ignores your pain, that’s not family.
My peace of mind matters. My mental health is non-negotiable. If it costs me my sanity, then it’s too expensive.”
While Mr. P didn’t name anyone directly, the post came on the heels of his court appearance in a case involving his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
The timing and tone of the message led fans to connect it to the ongoing legal and financial feud within the Okoye family.
The heartfelt message struck a chord online, with many commending Mr. P for speaking up about mental health and the courage to establish personal boundaries—even within family ties.
Known for his transparency, Mr. P continues to use his voice to address difficult conversations around emotional wellness, loyalty, and the unseen burdens that often accompany fame and family drama.
