It’s Throwback Thursday again! You know how we do it on Mp3bullet. Today we would like to refresh our minds with one of the best musical groups a talent show has produced in Nigeria, THE PULSE!
Star Quest a Musical Talent Show since its inception in 2002 has produced some of today’s huge stars such as KC Presh and Psquare, even Asa and Brackett auditioned on it. Seeing the quality of stars this talent show has produced then The pulse’s talent and unbeatable word play wouldn’t have fallen short of your expectations. If anything the group even beat our expectations.
The Pulse was made up of 6 unique individuals – Dubem ‘Dubie Love’ Ochokwu (lead vocalist & group lead), Obianuju ‘Switch’ Udeh, (vocalist, DJ & femCee & also the group’s only female), Samson ‘Sammyjazz’ Charles (drummer), Moses ‘Mozyphils’ Philips(saxophonist), Asuquo ‘Accurate’ Edet (bass guitarist) and Tunde ‘Spirit Fingers’ Omommeji (keyboardist).

Their album which they named ‘state of emergency’ rocked the nation, especially their ‘so tey’ song. The song did so well that they had to do a remix with Busta rhymes. With the way the group was climbing the ladder of success one wouldn’t have believed that they wouldn’t be around ”so tey”. Unfortunately they splitted few years after their album release.
Now the question is where are they?
Dj Switch the only female in the group has managed to raise her head above water, after the split she went right on to be featured on Weird MC’s ‘Da paper’ song in 2011. She also won the maiden edition of the Glo X Factor in 2013, carting away the mouth watering prize of N24m, a brand new SUV and a recording contract with Sony music. Wow!
Dubie the lead vocalist, also ventured into a solo career in 2012, he released a single and a musical video titled ‘Betrayal’. Unfortunately this song did not do well. Since then we haven’t heard from Dubem.
Other members of the group seem to have gone into extinction as we haven’t heard anything about them since the group splitted.
