Azadus (A Zealous and Determined Unbowed soldier) whose real name is Olalekan Fadeyi was born in the early 70’s into a Christian and polygamous home. He claims that he got his music skills from his mum and his swag from his dad and according to him, He began writing songs in the 80’s and was automatically admitted into his church choir after a talent hunt.
Azadus started his music career in the 90’s when he joined Nigeria’s hip hop movement DEF “O”CLAN in 1995. In 1999 he featured in Tony tetuila’s album (morning time) also showed how talented he is in Plantainshun Boiz body and soul.
The singer’s big break did not come until year 2000 when he signed up with the foremost record label in the country, Kennis music, he released his debut album under this record label which he titled ‘Just Azadus’. This album had club bangers like ‘you is the one’, a self titled track, ‘sodiyen’, ‘say me well ’e.t.c.
His second album and third album wasn’t as successful as the first but was good enough to get him a Kora awards nomination under the reggae artiste of the year category. This made him the first reggae artiste to have the nomination in the country.
Azadus has also being in number scandals which includes being shot by men of the underworld and the recent is his response to Lepacious Bose’s criticism for Nomoreloss’s death.
