“Most dangerous institution in Nigeria”- Davido claps back at trolls over politics

Afrobeats superstar Davido has fired back at trolls following a heated exchange over politics, sparked by the conclusion of the 2024 Edo governorship election held on September 21, 2024.

Taking to his X page, Davido commented on the election, pointing out the difference between winning and being officially declared the winner.

He wrote, “Winning is one thing. Being declared a winner is another thing! … From 7pm make una go Dey mount collation center!! #EdoDecide2024.”

He went on to criticize the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling it “the most dangerous institution in Nigeria.”

Recalling his experience during the Osun election, he shared, “Nah that night dem Dey always strike … for Osun we no sleep 3 days. I know how many back of head I slap that day … Edo pple, you have to be vigilant till the very end … I mean VERY END!!”

Davido also explained his interest in the Edo election, noting that his late mother was from the state. “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha. @inecnigeria shame on you. I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun! It’s really bad. God help us.”

One user took a jab at Davido, claiming his political commentary wasn’t smart. In a sharp rebuttal, Davido clapped back, saying, “Well that’s MY president? Is he yours??? NO!! NAH UR PAPA NO SMART.”
