‘I’m more out than in’ – Salah makes huge admission about Liverpool future as ‘disappointed’ Reds talisman claims he is yet to receive offer of new contract
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has given a worrying update on his future, revealing that he has not yet received a contract offer from the club as he enters the final year of his current deal.
The 32-year-old Egyptian international, who has been a key figure for Liverpool since joining in 2017, is yet to make a decision about extending his stay at Anfield.
Salah is currently fifth on the club’s all-time scoring list, with 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 appearances this season alone, showcasing his continued excellence on the pitch.
However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, the prospect of losing Salah on a free transfer looms large.
From January 1, Salah will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs, increasing the pressure on Liverpool to resolve his future.
In a candid interview, Salah expressed his frustration, stating: “We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end, it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
The forward continued, acknowledging his deep connection with Liverpool and its fans: “I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
Salah also expressed disappointment over the uncertainty, saying: “Of course, I’m disappointed. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season, and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.”
Despite the ongoing contract saga, Salah emphasized his professionalism and commitment to the team, stating: “I’m very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I’m just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next.”
As the January transfer window approaches, Liverpool fans will be hoping for a swift resolution to Salah’s contract situation.
His comments come ahead of a crucial week for Liverpool, with the Reds set to host Real Madrid in the Champions League before facing defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield.
