Naira Marley Finally Breaks Silence on Mohbad’s Death

Two years after the tragic passing of his former signee, Mohbad, Marlian Music boss Naira Marley has publicly shared his version of events, distancing himself from the controversy that has long trailed the incident.
In a new video statement, the singer revealed that he was outside Nigeria at the time of Mohbad’s death in September 2023, insisting that he had no involvement in the circumstances surrounding it.
According to him, the news of Mohbad’s passing initially felt unbelievable until it began trending across social media platforms.
Naira Marley expressed his frustration at being blamed, noting that old clips, including Mohbad’s altercations with the NDLEA and disputes with his former management, were circulated online in what he described as an attempt to “twist the narrative.”
“I wasn’t even in the country when it happened, and I can prove that with my passport stamps and videos,” he said, adding that the backlash made it difficult for him to properly mourn his former signee.
The Marlian Music executive also addressed viral videos involving his associate, Sam Larry, which resurfaced in the wake of Mohbad’s death. While public perception tied the footage to the singer’s demise, Naira Marley claimed the video was recorded much earlier and argued that it was misleading to connect it to the tragedy.
He maintained that both he and Sam Larry were abroad when the incident occurred, and reiterated that the blame directed at him was baseless.
Despite his explanation, the controversy around Mohbad’s passing continues to stir emotions among fans and the wider Nigerian music community.
