Mohamed Salah discloses how he deals with Premier League title race pressure
Mohamed Salah emphasizes that Liverpool must embrace the pressure of the Premier League title race, acknowledging that “everybody is nervous” during the final months of the season.
The Reds have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the table by securing a victory over Manchester United on Sunday, with Salah playing a pivotal role in their pursuit of the title.
Salah’s consistent excellence is evident as he surpasses the 20-goal milestone in all competitions for the seventh consecutive season at Liverpool, a remarkable achievement unmatched in the club’s history of prolific strikers.
With the relentless competition from title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, both of whom secured victories on Saturday, every match becomes crucial for Liverpool in Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge. Salah advocates for confronting this challenge head-on, emphasizing that the best approach is to meet it with determination and resolve.
He said in an interview with Liverpool’s website: “I think the main thing for me is everybody is nervous, it’s not just me, everybody feels stressed. So the main thing is to control your emotions in that time.
“The main problem for us as a player is we just try to run away from that emotion, try to really feel that it’s not real or something. But at the end of the day, if you accept it and you impress it and you deal with it in the best possible way, that’s how you’re going to handle this situation.
“Of course I do a lot of yoga and also meditation – it helps a lot. But you need to accept your emotions.”
Salah’s impressive performance in the Premier League Golden Boot race sees him trailing Erling Haaland by just three goals, with 19 goals to his name. Additionally, he has provided nine assists so far in the 2023–24 season.
Although he was substituted after an hour without making a significant contribution against Sheffield United, Salah remains eager for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United. His remarkable track record against the Red Devils, having scored 13 goals in 14 previous appearances against them, underscores his potency and anticipation for the upcoming match.
