Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has once again carved his name into football folklore after being crowned the 2025 PFA Players’ Player of the Year, becoming the first footballer in Premier League history to clinch the award three times.

The Egyptian forward enjoyed a sensational 2024/25 campaign, leading Liverpool to the league title under new manager Arne Slot.

His season was decorated with individual brilliance, as he remarkably became the only player ever to win the Premier League Golden Boot, Playmaker Award, Premier League Player of the Year, Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year all in the same season.

What makes the honour more special is that it is voted for by fellow professionals, underlining not just Salah’s outstanding statistics, but also the immense respect he commands across the league.

Salah had previously secured the award in the 2017/18 and 2021/22 seasons, but this latest triumph in 2024/25 elevates him above every other Premier League player in history.

During the campaign, he netted 29 goals in 38 league appearances while also contributing heavily in assists, cementing his status as Liverpool’s talisman. His decisive goals in high-profile matches proved pivotal, swinging momentum in favour of the Reds time and again.

Salah’s consistency and longevity now place him among the all-time greats of English football, alongside names like Thierry Henry, who is the only other player to win four Golden Boots.

Other nominees for this year’s award included Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Alexander Isak (Newcastle United), and Cole Palmer (Chelsea).

The “Egyptian King” has now set a benchmark that will be incredibly difficult for future players to match, solidifying his legacy as one of the Premier League’s most influential icons.
