One major attribute successful music acts possess is being versatile or flexible in their sounds – Mp3bullet discusses Olamide as a versatile breed.
Over the years, the CEO of YBNL Record label, Olamide has proven to be versatile, and it has yielded great results from his little beginnings to his legend-hood.
Mp3bullet compares and contrasts the ‘modern era’ and ‘olden days’ Olamide on the test of versatility.
Music versatility categorically means that as an artiste, you have an infinite number of styles to choose from. This implies that if you’re just messing around, you’ll never get sick of one style.
Additionally, because you will likely not be producing the same sort of music over and over again, writing music will always appear new and fascinating.
Similarly, being interested in a variety of styles while making music allows for a blending of all of the many types of music and raises the likelihood of creating something unique and intriguing rather than a conventional rap or Afro tune.
Many musicians’ discographies are largely comprised of the same music. I have no objections to artists remaining true to their genre.
The majority of artists do it, and many of them excel at it. Most people who stick to their genre, on the other hand, try to venture out at least a little.

Started his career over a decade ago, Olamide took to the streets with his rap game! It is safe to say, he is one of the founding successes of indigenous hip-hop in Nigeria and West Africa at large.
Baddo was not top-notch in terms of versatility at this point of his career, as he plunged into a peculiar tune, which he was identified with.
Although, he was lyrically gifted and could literally voice anything as proclaimed in VOTS – “Mi o lowun bi Wizkid, I for dey voice anything But anyway ma ti were bo…”, however, Olamide lacked the vocal dexterity to promote his music beyond the African shores.
Not disregarding how he universally built a fanbase who couldn’t understand his language yet vibed to his music – the emphasis remains on how versatile his productions were.
His sole method was rap and he truthfully did justice to whatever sound Hip-hop threw at him.
From Rapsodi (2011) to Lagos Nawa (2017), Olamide maintained his unique sensation with catchy beats. Although, at this period, he drifted from rapping alone to giving some hooks.
His mode of singing added more flavour to his style of music, more importantly, portrayed him as a mature music maker.
Lagos Boys, Turn Up, Abule Sowo, and a host of jams where the light of the party between this said time. For a fact, it was a good show of versatility from the singer, however, as stated earlier, his music was purely within African reach.

Having signed a joint venture deal with international music publishing agency ‘EMPIRE‘, on the 18th of February, 2020, Olamide had a twist of fate in his delivery style.
He started off with ‘999 EP‘ – As an artist, it exemplified his strengths and faults. it exemplified Olamide’s predilection for showcasing underground talent, his defiant notion of success,’ and his desire to create something distinct from his previous albums.
At the same time, he came through with Carpe Diem later that year! Categorically, I’d attest that was the beginning of the ‘modern Olamide sound’.
Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase that means “seize the moment.” Olamide simply emphasized that he prefers to savor the opportunity rather than making things up with it.
While some of this shift can be ascribed to the partnership with EMPIRE Distribution, it was also about Olamide’s desire to stay at the top rather than succumb.
Further, it contained no fillers and no other Olamide album has a therapeutic sonic and topical consistency fused with a topical progression.
As a matter of fact, it came out as his most serene and deliberate piece of music, combining current conformity with a distinct character. More in place was the use of English.
Olamide truly lauded his versatile prowess on this project!!!
Fast forward to 2021, Olamide released another unique project – UY Scuti; another reflection of his modern sound. It was more of an evolution of what he started, on Carpe Diem – affirming the stance of a modern impression!
Mp3bullet explained that “UY Scuti rollout term radiates from the introduction and integration of a new market or audience, often refers to a new target market release and is heavily accompanied by a strong marketing campaign, to generate and yield the desired market interest.”
So you see, Olamide has had a successful music career from his inception as a rapper to a soft-melodious singer.
In the test of versatility, it is safe to say as he evolved, he grew better in not only the game but the business.
His thirst for greater heights thrust him into a multi-dimensional universe of creative deliveries!
In my opinion, the modern Olamide proves more versatile in all ramifications!!!
