Mohamed Salah breaks 31-year-old Premier League record during Merseyside derby

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah etched his name in Premier League history on Wednesday night, setting a new record during the highly anticipated Merseyside derby against Everton.
Taking his usual position on the right flank of Liverpool’s formidable attack, the Egyptian maestro looked to maintain his stellar form and bolster his team’s lead at the top of the table.
The Reds entered the clash six points clear of Arsenal and eager to bounce back after their shocking FA Cup exit to Championship side Plymouth Argyle.
However, Arne Slot’s men endured a nightmare start at Goodison Park, falling behind just 11 minutes into the contest. A well-worked Everton free-kick found its way to the towering Beto, who clinically slotted home, giving the hosts the lead in what marked the final Goodison derby.
Liverpool didn’t take long to respond, though. Just five minutes later, Alexis Mac Allister latched onto Salah’s pinpoint cross, leveling the score and swinging momentum back in the visitors’ favor.
That assist proved historic for Salah. According to Opta, he has now registered 22 goal contributions (13 goals and nine assists) in Premier League away matches this season—surpassing the previous record of 21 set by Andy Cole during his prolific 1993/94 campaign with Newcastle United.
With several games still to play, Salah has the opportunity to further extend his record-breaking tally. The Egyptian forward has already racked up over 40 goal contributions across all competitions, reaffirming his status as one of the league’s most influential players.
