Mixed reactions trail Angelique Kidjo Grammy award after she beats Wizkid
At the 64th Grammy Awards on Sunday, April 3, 2022, Beninese singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo defeated Nigerian superstar Wizkid to win Best Global Music Album.
Fans of award-winning Nigerian artist Wizkid were disappointed to see their favourite lose the Grammy Award to the Beninese artist.
The position was contested by Nigeria’s heavyweights, Wizkid for his Made In Lagos Deluxe album, Made & Femi Kuti’s Legacy+, Daniel Ho & Friends’ East West Players Presents, and Rocky Dawoni Voice of Burbon Vol. 1.
Nigerians were upset at Angelique for continuously winning the Grammy award, taking to various comment sections to express their anger.
