Mikel Arteta reveals key Kai Havertz change after former Chelsea star scores second goal in two games during Champions League thrashing of Lens.
Kai Havertz scored in Arsenal’s 6-0 thumping of Lens, while Mikel Arteta’s second goal in as many games highlighted a significant difference in the German.
The German star has had a difficult start to his career at Arsenal, having struggled to make an impact following his £65 million summer move from Chelsea.
However, in recent games, the 24-year-old has been contributing more and more to Arteta’s team. Havertz’s current upturn in form has been attributed to an improvement in confidence, according to the Spaniard, after he scored twice in two games following the late victory against Brentford on the weekend.
“He’s becoming better and better, he’s more confident,” Arteta said to club media. “His two goals, two very important goals as well, because one won us the game and today he opened the scoring. His overall contribution again was really, really good.”
Havertz also made two important passes and won three of four aerial duels in a display that has many Gunners supporters delighted. He has three goals and one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions so far.
The 24-year-old will now play against Wolves on Saturday, December 2, as the Premier League log leaders try to extend their lead at the top.
