Nigerian rapper MI Abaga has expressed his thoughts on the increasing trend of collaborations between Nigerian and international artists. These collaborations have become a significant phenomenon, allowing for the fusion of diverse musical styles and cultural influences.

Prominent Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido have gained global recognition, attracting international artists eager to collaborate and tap into the vibrant energy and creativity of the Nigerian music scene. The rapid growth of Afrobeat has been particularly noteworthy, with achievements such as Burna Boy’s album “Love, Damini” debuting at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 in 2022.

MI Abaga’s perspective highlights the global impact of Nigerian music, emphasizing the growing prominence of Afrobeat on the international stage.

In a post shared via social media, MI Abaga said, “No disrespect meant… I appreciate the fact that Now every American rapper wants to collaborate with us. However go listen to my catalog.. I have always known who I am and some of these people you guys are suggesting to work with me don’t want these problems. Levels de”.

The musician who signed with Chocolate City made it clear that his musical taste differs from that of other worldwide performers, highlighting the fact that not all musicians share his taste in music. He urged fans to go over his body of work, emphasizing that not every collaborative endeavor would necessarily further his creative goals.

This response stemmed from an inquiry by American rapper Meek Mill. He sought recommendations for a Nigerian artist to collaborate with on his upcoming album. MI Abaga had proposed Ice Prince Zamani. However, some fans have been proposing alternative international artists for MI Abaga to collaborate with.
