Popular gospel singer Mercy Chinwo sparked divisive reactions from Nigerians on social media after appearing at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally in Akwa Ibom State.
Many Nigerians were taken aback when the singer stormed the governorship campaign event in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Tuesday to perform as an artist.
The 32-year-old singer, who just wed wowed the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, his wife, Martha, and thousands of other party supporters in the state with her gospel songs.
The PDP supporters were held spellbound as they danced to her songs.
Some of the songs she sang include ‘Obinasom’; ‘Excess Love’, amongst others.
“Sister Mercy, this is electrifying,” the governor enthused in his speech after her ministration.

The report of her performance at the rally has been generating reactions from tweeps as some condemned the move while others believe she was paid for the job.
