Chike Describes Marriage as “A Stupid Step,” Says His Happiness Depends on Money

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Chike Osebuka, popularly known as Chike, has stirred conversations with his candid views on marriage.
The 32-year-old artist, while speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on the WithChude podcast, said he currently has no plans of settling down, insisting that marriage is not a path he considers wise.
“In my personal opinion, in fact, I think it’s a stupid step to get married, that’s my opinion,” he stated.
“In my personal opinion, getting married is a stvpid step.”

Although Chike has built a reputation for making soulful, love-inspired music, he emphasized that his joy is not tied to romance but to financial security.
“For me to be happy, to be honest, I need a lot of money. This is not even canal, I won’t lie to you, I like money. I want money,” he explained.
The singer also reflected on his journey into music, admitting that he never imagined it would become his career until after completing his university education.
“I would say maybe right after my university, I knew music is what I’ll do for a living. I won’t say I knew before, to be honest, because I just used to sing and disturb everybody around me,” he said.
Chike recalled his early struggles in the entertainment industry, noting that he had to take up acting roles just to survive.
“It was a tough part, I even had to start acting for like two years,” he added.
Despite his bold stance on marriage, Chike continues to connect deeply with fans through his music, which often explores themes of love and relationships.
