Marcus Rashford discusses World Cup disappointment.
Marcus Rashford has acknowledged that the World Cup loss to France was upsetting and that he is relieved to be returning to club football right away to distract himself.
England had a lot of potential at this World Cup, but their run came to an end in the quarterfinals when they were defeated 2-1 by France.
That defeat was made all the more painful by the fact that Gareth Southgate’s side were the better team for the majority of the match and could have taken the game to extra time at the very least if Harry Kane hadn’t missed a penalty.
Rashford admits the quarter-final exit was hard to swallow, but that already returning to action for Manchester United and scoring has eased the pain.

“It was good to come back,” he said after scoring against Burnley in a 2-0 win.
“It was a tough game and good to get a win to take into the next one. It’s more emotions-wise because it was such a disappointing feeling to be knocked out and you have to pick yourself up.
“There’s no time to feel sorry for yourself. You need to pick up results and thankfully we did that today. It was fun to be out there.”
By selecting a potent starting XI for the Burnley game, Erik ten Hag made it plain that he intends to treat the Carabao Cup seriously this year. Rashford has said that he supports his manager’s strategy and believes that winning the competition might boost the team’s performance for the rest of the season.
“We’re in every tournament to try and win it. This is definitely a good one to win,” he stated.
“Winning this trophy early in the season in February can push you on to achieve more in the season.”
