Manuel Ugarte transfer: Manchester United agree terms with Paris Saint-Germain in deal worth up to …
Manchester United have reached a full agreement with PSG for the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The deal is valued at an initial £42.2 million but could rise to £50.7 million (€60 million) with performance-related add-ons.
Ugarte is expected to arrive in the UK on Tuesday to undergo a medical and finalize personal terms.
Initially, PSG aimed to recoup the £51.1 million (€60 million) they paid Sporting Lisbon for Ugarte last summer, before bonuses. However, both clubs reached a compromise, driven by a mutual desire to complete the deal.
The Uruguayan midfielder will join Manchester United just a year after his move to PSG. Reports indicate that Ugarte was eager to join Old Trafford this summer, with personal terms never posing an issue during negotiations.

He’s always been option number 1, 2 and 3 for Man Utd as considered perfect fit for their midfield.

While discussions included the possibility of a loan move with an obligation to buy, both clubs favored a permanent transfer. United needed to offload players to make room for Ugarte, and the sales of Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos and Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley cleared the necessary space in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Ugarte was notably absent from PSG’s match-day squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre, which ended in a 4-1 victory for the reigning champions. Last season, despite starting only 21 games in the 2023–24 campaign, Ugarte led Ligue 1 in tackles with a total of 98.
