Manchester United: Reliable journalist confirms Ratcliffe’s ‘decision to sack’ Ten Hag after FA Cup final
Manchester United have reportedly decided to sack manager Erik ten Hag, even if the team wins the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday.
The decision follows a challenging second season for Ten Hag at Old Trafford, where United finished eighth in the Premier League, marking their lowest finish in over three decades.
Despite leading the team to the FA Cup final, Ten Hag’s future at the club appears bleak.
According to The Guardian, United’s co-owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, have decided to remove Ten Hag from his position regardless of the final’s outcome. This decision marks a significant move by Ratcliffe and INEOS, who recently acquired a 27.7 percent stake in the club from the Glazer family, giving them control over football operations.
A list of potential replacements has already been compiled, featuring names such as Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Frank, and Graham Potter.
This decision comes despite Ten Hag’s promising first season, which saw United finish third in the Premier League and win the Carabao Cup. However, the team has regressed this season, exiting the Champions League early and enduring a disappointing run in the Carabao Cup.
United’s hopes for European football next season hinge on winning the FA Cup, which would secure them a spot in the UEFA Europa League. However, the overall performance this season, including a series of losses in the Premier League and struggles in other competitions, has led to dissatisfaction among the club’s hierarchy.
As the FA Cup final approaches, the uncertainty surrounding Manchester United’s managerial position continues, with Ten Hag’s tenure seemingly set to end irrespective of the final result.
