Manchester United decide on asking price for Harry Maguire
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United has set a price tag of £50 million for their captain, Harry Maguire, amidst rumors of a potential summer transfer.
Samuel Luckhurst, Chief writer at the media outlet, reported this information, expressing his belief that the valuation is quite high for the defender. He also mentioned that it may be challenging for the club to receive offers around the quoted amount.
Luckhurst suggested that the £50 million asking price could potentially hinder Maguire’s chances of securing a transfer this season if Manchester United doesn’t lower their valuation.
Maguire, who joined the club from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for a world-record fee of £80 million for a defender, is currently under contract with Manchester United until 2025.
During the last season, Maguire found himself spending most of his time on the bench as manager Erik ten Hag preferred other defenders such as Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof over the former Leicester City player.
Maguire only made eight league starts in the previous campaign.
