Man Utd confirm signing of Matthijs de Ligt & Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich
Manchester United have officially confirmed the signings of center-back Matthijs de Ligt and right-back Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.
United had been on the lookout for new center-backs this summer, and after securing Leny Yoro from Lille, they quickly set their sights on De Ligt.
The Dutch defender was available for transfer from Bayern and swiftly agreed to personal terms with United. Following a rejected opening bid, the two clubs have now reached an agreement on a deal worth an initial €45 million (£38.6 million), with an additional €5 million (£4.3 million) in potential add-ons.

“As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt excited about the opportunity for a new challenge at such a historic club,” De Ligt said. “In the conversations that followed, I was impressed by the vision the football leadership laid out and the role they envisioned for me.
Erik ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career, so he knows how to get the best out of me, and I can’t wait to work with him again. I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and I’m determined to continue that success at this special club.”

Shortly after De Ligt’s arrival, United also confirmed the signing of Noussair Mazraoui. The right-back joins in a £13 million transfer that could increase to £14 million, replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the squad.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be a Manchester United player, and I can’t wait to walk out at Old Trafford wearing the red shirt,” Mazraoui said. “I know I’m joining the club at an exciting time; everyone I’ve spoken to shares the ambition to win trophies together, and I can sense the determination to achieve that.
Erik ten Hag played a crucial role in my development as a player, so reuniting with him as I enter the prime years of my career is thrilling. I know what he expects from his players, and I’ll give everything to help the team succeed.”
