Man City agree deal with West Ham star Paqueta
Manchester City is poised to finalize a long-awaited deal to acquire Lucas Paqueta from West Ham, having reached a personal agreement with the midfielder regarding his wages. However, according to reports from Foot Mercato, the reigning European and English champions are yet to reach an agreement with West Ham regarding the transfer fee.
Last summer, City made an attempt to sign Paqueta from West Ham, but they withdrew from the reported £85 million deal due to an investigation initiated by the Football Association (FA) into alleged betting breaches.
Despite the setback, Paqueta has maintained impressive form, tallying eight goals and seven assists in all competitions this season. Regarding the investigation, he recently stated, “It’s been seven months since it’s been happened and I’m cooperating, doing what’s in my power so that it can be resolved.”
Paqueta’s current contract with West Ham extends until 2027, with an option for an additional year. Given his stellar performance, West Ham could hold out for a similar £85 million ($108 million) fee from City this year before agreeing to his departure.
