Luke Shaw close to signing new four-year Manchester United contract.
Manchester United and Luke Shaw have reached an agreement in principle on a new four-year deal.
Shaw’s current contract with United expires at the end of the current campaign; earlier this year, the club triggered an automatic 12-month extension to give them more time to come to new terms with the England international.
Now 27, Shaw is enjoying perhaps his best season in a United shirt, turning in a number of impressive performances under new manager Erik ten Hag. Shaw was part of the team that won the Carabao Cup in February, while United are competing for a top four place as well as additional Europa League and FA Cup wins.
Although it’s unclear when United will formally announce the contract, negotiations have advanced since January, and it’s believed Shaw is satisfied with the agreements made.

David de Gea and Marcus Rashford, who are both due to extend their contracts with expiration dates on their present agreements in sight and are both having the finest seasons of their careers, are two players with whom United is still in contract negotiations.
De Gea’s current deal expires at the end of the current campaign, thus United is trying to cut it down from the £375,000 per week agreed upon when the Spaniard previously committed his future. Little over a year remains on Rashford’s contract, and United is optimistic that a deal can be reached.
Another player with whom United is negotiating new deals is Diogo Dalot.
With his attitude and versatility—he has frequently filled in at left center back this season—Shaw is said to have won over Erik ten Hag. According to Shaw’s coaches, he may be the United team’s most improved player since they arrived.
Shaw’s childhood team, Chelsea, had been keeping an eye on his contract status, but since Ten Hag’s arrival, Shaw hasn’t given any thought to leaving United. Shaw reportedly likes playing for the Dutchman and is a great fan of him.
