Luka Modrić Joins AC Milan on Free Transfer After Glittering Real Madrid Career

Football legend Luka Modrić has officially signed with AC Milan, marking a new chapter in his storied career after over a decade of brilliance at Real Madrid.
The 39-year-old midfield maestro joins the Rossoneri as a free agent, signing a one-year deal until June 2026, with an option to extend for a further year. The club confirmed the news in a statement on Monday, July 14, 2025:
“AC Milan is delighted to announce that Luka Modrić has signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2026, with an option for a one-year extension until 30 June 2027.”

Modrić leaves behind an iconic legacy at the Santiago Bernabéu, where he won an astonishing 28 trophies, including six UEFA Champions League titles, four La Liga crowns, and the Ballon d’Or in 2018. With 43 goals in 597 appearances, he departs as Real Madrid’s most decorated player of all time.
His final appearance in white came in the 4–0 Club World Cup semi-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain last week.
