Dominik Szoboszlai transfer to Liverpool confirmed with contract length and squad number.
Liverpool have announced the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
After signing in Alexis Mac Allister earlier in the summer transfer season, the Reds have gotten a second midfielder.
They have moved quickly to sign Hungary international Szoboszlai. We revealed on Wednesday that contact had been made with the player’s camp and he was keen on a move to Anfield.
It is understood that Newcastle United, who lost out on James Maddison to Tottenham Hotspur, had expressed interest in Szoboszlai but were turned off by his high release clause.
Liverpool agreed to put Szoboszlai’s £60 million release clause on the table on Friday after previously signalling they were hesitant to do so. He then travelled to Merseyside for his medical.
Liverpool have now announced that Szoboszlai’s move to Anfield is complete.

“It’s really, really good,” Szoboszlai said of his move to Liverpool. “I enjoyed the last [few] days and I’m looking forward to knowing everybody better.
“The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy. But at the end I’m here, I’m happy and I can’t wait to get started.
“[A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”
Szoboszlai will be looking to make his competitive Liverpool debut when the Reds kick off their 2023–24 Premier League season on August 13 at Chelsea.
Szoboszlai has taken the No. 8 shirt at Liverpool, which has previously been worn by players like Steven Gerrard and Naby Keita.
